According to a recent study conducted by global strategy and pricing consultancy Simon-Kucher & Partners, sixty one percent of consumers rate sustainability as an important aspect when purchasing products. Down products are the perfect solution for consumers looking to live a sustainable life.  Down is a sustainable and renewable resource that can be found in a variety of goods.

A recent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) commissioned by the International Down and Feather Bureau (IDFB) further proved the sustainability of down. The LCA tested the impact of down versus polyester in five environmental areas: human health, ecosystems, resources, cumulative energy demand and climate change. It was found that down has between 85% – 97% lower impacts than polyester in all the impact categories analyzed and has 18 times less of an impact on climate change than polyester fill.

Down is given a second life through cleaning and sanitizing it to be used in goods such bedding, clothing, and outdoor gear. It is a recycled product that would end up in landfills if it were not repurposed as fill for comforters, pillows, jackets, and outdoor camping gear. By purchasing these products, consumers are helping to reduce the agricultural waste and contribute to the overall sustainability of our world.

Down doesn’t just feel good, it is good.
